Become a Service Provider

Who is a Service Provider?

You are a service provider if you are an artist, instructor or a leader of an organization that offers arts, cultural and creative activities for children and/or youth. Creative Kids pays for lessons, but it’s the service providers who really make things happen for the kids!

We are proud to work with over 710 instructors, studios, businesses, and non-profits across the province, including:

  • Art galleries
  • Dance studios of all sizes
  • Music instructors teaching in their homes
  • Community, cultural and heritage organizations
  • Music stores that offer lessons
  • Art, dance, music, drama, and cultural camps
  • Theatres that host children's programs

Almost any person or organization who charges a fee for children’s artistic, creative or cultural lessons can register as a service provider. See the list of eligible activities.

Registering with Creative Kids

We hope each child has a positive experience. To help ensure this, you as a service provider send in a registration form and Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks before a Creative Kids-funded student begins lessons. Once completed, you are a registered service provider. You only register once and record checks are asked for every five years. Creative Kids can only pay registered service providers.

Call Shawn Bauche at 306-780-9469, if you have any question.

Payments and direct deposits

During Canada Post strikes, we can only pay service providers by direct bank deposits. To sign up for these electronic funds transfers (EFTs):

1) Download the EFT form.
2) Fill in the form, including the organization/payee certification in the bottom right corner.
3) Email the form to finance@creativekidssask.ca. Include a blank void cheque (this can be a photo of a cheque or a cheque created through your online banking).

Once you are set up for EFTs, any future payments can be sent to you electronically.

Unregistered Service Providers

Sometimes a family applies to arrange lessons with a service provider we have not yet met. No worries! We won’t hold up their application. Once the results are determined, we will follow up with their chosen service provider to explain next steps.

This sometimes means that a child will begin classes before we have received your criminal record/vulnerable sector check and registration form. It’s okay with us. We’ll send payment for the lessons once we’ve received these documents.

How families apply

Families can apply to one of five application deadlines and are eligible for up to $750 per child per year. If their application is successful, we pay you, the service provider, directly for that child’s lessons. Since most activity begins in September or happens during the summer, each child’s eligible funding amount resets every June 1st. See our application forms and deadlines.

Where does the money come from?

Creative Kids is a charity and relies on donations, sponsorships and fundraising events to fund the applications we receive. We are a charity of SaskCulture (a provincial non-profit organization), which covers all our administration and operating costs. This means 100 per cent of donations and sponsorships go directly to supporting children in your community.

If you would like to help us raise more money to help even more kids, consider hosting a fundraiser of your own, or collecting donations at the door for your next event or recital.

Can I promote Creative Kids?

Of course! You can use our logo, link to our website, share our Facebook posts!

Please use the following wording when promoting Creative Kids: “For families unable to meet the registration costs or lesson fees, funds may be available from Creative Kids Saskatchewan. Visit CreativeKidsSask.ca for details.”

Do you want to share success stories?

We also love to share your stories and those of your students about how music, art, drama, culture and dance create meaningful impact for kids in Saskatchewan. Any time you have something to share, send us an email! Here are some examples.
